Messina Hof Winery was originally founded in 1977 by Paul Vincent and Merrill Bonarrigo, planting 50 varietals of grapes in an experimental planting style.

In 1990, the winery became Texas' first winery to score above 90 in Wine Spectator, acclaimed for its unique ultra-premium wines. 130,000 gallons of fine wines are produced each year, including the winery's Aggie Network Chardonnay, Midnight Yell dessert wine, and savory spiced blend GSM.

Classic Moscato and Gewürztraminer varietals are also produced and can be sampled as part of wine flights at the company's wine bar, housed within Bryan's former Ursuline Academy school building. Behind-the-scenes tours showcase the property's historic building and overview wine tasting and pairing techniques. The winery's award-winning bed and breakfast has also been named as one of Texas' top romantic getaway spots, showcasing 11 beautiful suites themed after romantic historical literature.
