Philadelphia Brewing Co

Philadelphia Brewing was founded in 2007 in Philadelphia, PA, in the historic 1885 building that originally housed the Weisbrod & Hess Oriental Brewing Company, which operated on the premises until 1939. They brew five year-round beers, a few seasonals, and the occasional experimental recipe. All the ingredients for their beers are sourced locally. They do not use any preservatives and distribute their beers themselves. The Peacock Room is their 30-seat tavern located at one corner of the old building, serving the brewery’s own beers and Commonwealth ciders, on tap and in bottles, a list of cocktails, and a small selection of snacks such as bacon popcorn and spiced nuts. There is also a pleasant space outdoors for those warmer days. More substantial food is offered by rotating food trucks.

Straub Brewery Inc

Straub Brewery, Inc. is an award-winning brewery founded in 1872 by German immigrant Peter Straub in St. Marys, PA. It is one of the oldest breweries in the United States, and it is still owned and run by the sixth and seventh generations of its founding family. Straub Brewery produces Straub American Lager, Straub American Light Lager, Straub American Amber Lager, IPL (India Pale Lager), and 1872 Pre-Prohibition Lager. They also make the Peter Straub Signature Brews craft beer styles such as Kölsch Ale, Dunkel, Vienna Lager, Helles, Doppelbock, Altbier, Maibock, Oktoberfest, Pilsner, and Hefeweizen. There is a tap room near the brewing area, where visitors taking a tour of the facility can enjoy a free sample of Straub Beer from a number of taps on the wall. There is also a stand-alone tap system in the Eternal Tap area.

Tower Hill Brewery

Tower Hill Brewery is a small craft brewery and a restaurant with no secrets. Their entire production facility is right there for everyone to see, with a mashing barrel right next to the bar. The customers are separated from the hopper merely by a chain. They make a nice range of beers of different styles and serve them in their pleasant, unassuming restaurant, and offer a full menu of interesting dishes, with a number of Polish delicacies due to the owner’s Polish roots. Both their beers and their food are made using fresh seasonal ingredients from local farms. The brewery often has live music concerts featuring local bands.

Breaker Brewing Company

The Breaker Brewing Company is a micro-brewery that started brewing and selling commercially in 2009 on a 1.5-barrel brewing system. They opened their brewery and attached tap room to the public in 2003 in the former St. Josephs school in northeast Pennsylvania’s coal region. They produce small batches of hand-crafted beers that they deliver to local pubs and bars. Their tasting room is a popular local gathering place, with a great pub atmosphere, a long bar, and a lot of space for friends and families. They offer a solid menu of classic pub grub created in their own kitchen, paired with their own beer from up to 11 taps that rotate regularly.

Dancing Gnome Beer

Established in 2009 and opened to the public in 2016, Dancing Gnome Beer is a small craft brewery in the Sharpsburg neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA, brewing hop-forward, farmhouse-style ales using a 10-barrel system. They offer their rotating selection of beers in a cozy tap room separated from the production facility by a large glass window. The tap room is a popular local gathering spot for craft beer aficionados. The inviting space has high ceilings, an industrial-chic vibe, subway tiles, exposed beams, and high-top tables. They release three beers every week, which are offered together with their regular line. Food is provided by the great range of food trucks parked in front of the brewery.

Four Seasons Brewing Company, Inc.

Four Seasons Brewing Company is a microbrewery in Latrobe, PA, with a production facility and a charming, bright and spacious tap room in an old warehouse close to St. Vincent College. They produce a large range of lagers and ales on tap, served fresh in their tap room, with only a glass wall separating guests from the production area. Tours are available upon request. There is live music almost every Friday and Saturday. The tap room offers a small food menu with regular pub grub such as pretzels, chips and salsa, and hot dogs, but there are food trucks parked in front and guests are free to order food from one of the many nearby eateries.

Free Will Brewing Co.

Free Will Brewing Co is a full-production craft brewery located in Perkasie, PA, producing lagers, ales, and a large range of sour/wild ales in their 38,000-square-foot facility with a 15-barrel capacity, using 11 fermenters, liquor barrels, wine barrels, puncheons, and foudres. They distribute their beers all over the Eastern Seaboard, and tours of the brewery are available every Saturday. The brewery has two tap rooms, one attached to the brewery in Perkasie and the other in Peddler’s Village, about half hour from Perkasie, in a renovated colonial building, where they offer a 12-tap draft list that includes their most popular Techno IPA, Kragle IPA, Crisper Kolsch, and others. The taproom also offers beer sales, specialty beer releases, snacks, and a range of brewery-related merchandise. Guests are encouraged to bring their own food.

Helltown Brewing LLC

Helltown Brewing Co. is a small-scale 15-barrel brewhouse opened in 2011 in a renovated former auto-repair garage on a residential street in Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County. They distribute their beers, ranging from light to dark, throughout western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Philadelphia. Some of their most popular beers are Wretched (a Belgian blonde) and Mischievous (a brown ale). They have a few tables among the tanks, where they offer free samples of their freshly brewed beer. Visitors can also fill pints and growlers. There are a few picnic benches outside and food trucks often park in front, so you can hang out with friends and family.

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant

What started as a hobby for Kevin Finn using a homebrewing kit he received from his wife soon turned into a beer-making passion. Together with his friend Mark Edelson, Finn started brewing craft beer in 1990, quickly gaining lot of attention and bringing home some serious awards, including the world’s “Best Brewpub” in 2010, then again in 2014, and a runner-up in 2016. They produce original and distinctive full-flavored beers that they offer in a chain of brewpubs – they brew beer and cook and serve fresh, from-scratch food at each of their locations. Their Phoenixville tap room is a full-menu upscale restaurant with a cozy, friendly pub vibe, leather booths, and elegant decor. The menu is elevated American cuisine with a large selection of delicious shareable appetizers.

Lavery Brewing Co

Located in downtown Erie, PA, Lavery Brewing Company is an award-winning American craft brewery founded in 2009. They produce a range of beer styles that have their own distinctive original style and flavor, produced in their 10-barrel facility. They have won numerous awards for their brews, such as the gold medal for Belgian and French saison at the 2013 Great American Beer Fest for their Liopard Oir Farmhouse Alewon. They produce three malts and three hops of their flagship beers and 30 more beers exclusive to their brew pub. Some of the most popular are Mango Mosaic IPA, Berliner Weisses, and Amapricot Amarillo IPA. Their tap room also offers a range of pub grub, with Taco Tuesday and Pizza Thursday being most popular.

Liquid Hero Brewery is a small craft brewery in downtown York, PA, that produces a range of beer styles and serves them in their brewpub attached to the production facility. They offer flights of their beer for tasting at the tap room as well as six-packs and growlers to go. Lost Tavern Brewing

Lost Tavern Brewing is a small craft brewery in Hellertown, PA, that began when a group of friends started brewing their own beer in 2009. They established the brewery in 2015, with the goal of offering a range of ales of different styles while supporting the local community. Formerly a car garage built in 1927, the building that hosts the brewery and the tap room is a beautiful historic steel and brick structure that offers 5,000 square feet of space for the production facility and a cozy tap room. There is a large walnut bar that can sit 20, with tables indoors and outdoors that can accommodate 25 more passionate craft beer drinkers. The production facility can be easily seen from the seating area, inviting beer lovers to watch the magic or take the tour of the facility. The tap room is a popular gathering place, with shuffleboard, darts, dominoes, and other games. There is often live music and other events.

Naked Brewing Company

Naked Brewing Company is a production brewery in Huntingdon Valley, PA, established in 2012. They produce a large range of beers of different styles and sell them from their tap room attached to the production facility. The tap room offers fresh beer, a food truck out front provides food, and a few games and a foosball table in the back provide entertainment for the whole family. If you feel like some serious food while you are tasting your fresh beer, they also have a bunch of menus from the local eateries. Selin's Grove Brewing Company

The Selin’s Grove Brewing Co. is located in a beautiful 200-year-old Federal-style stone mansion built in 1816 for Pennsylvania’s third Governor Simon Snyder. The almost intact building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The brewery was established in 1996 and is rated by Beer Advocate as one of the best microbreweries in Pennsylvania. They serve their own range of different style beers on tap and a rotating selection of hard ciders and wines from several Pennsylvania wineries and cider houses. Their elegant pub has an extensive menu of freshly prepared soups, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. Outside dining in the sunken garden is available from April through October.

Sly Fox Brewing Company

Sly Fox Brewing Company is a microbrewery in Pottstown, PA, that has brewed more than 100 varieties of beer since their start in 1995. They are winners of numerous awards for their year-round lineup and exciting seasonal selections. Sly Fox is a 50-hectoliter production brewery equipped with a German 40-barrel brewhouse. Their beers are available in their own pubs and are being distributed to a growing number of states. Sly Fox is one of the oldest breweries in the Delaware Valley. Their Brewhouse & Eatery in Phoenixville and the Brewery & Tastin' Room in Pottstown are popular local spots for hanging out with friends and tasting good beer. South County Brewing Co.

South County Brewing Co. is a microbrewery opened in 2011 in Fawn Grove, in the Susquehanna Valley, just north of the Maryland/Pennsylvania state line. The brewery is known for its IPAs, hazy pale ales, and traditional style lagers. Most of their beers are unfiltered and all of them are unpasteurized, so they are best consumed fresh and should be kept cold. Some of their most popular beers are the Dark Thread Porter, Virgil (a bourbon barrel aged dark ale), and Liminal Moment Double IPA. You can buy their draft beer, cans, and merchandise at the tap room, which is separated from the production area by a glass wall – it is fun to sample your beers while watching the magic happen. The tap room does not serve food, but it can be ordered from the nearby Kimmy’s Café. Guests can also bring their favorite food to eat with their brews. Tours are available upon request.

Sprague Farm & Brew Works

Established in 2006 in Venango, PA, Sprague Farm and Brew Works is located in an old renovated dairy barn on 65 acres of land right next to French Creek. Sprague is one of very few estate farm breweries in the country. They have been planting and harvesting, floor malting, and kilning barley on their estate since 2011. They grow four varieties of hops at the moment, including Magnum, Cascade, Nugget, and Mt. Hood. They make naturally keg-conditioned, unfiltered, farm-brewed lagers and ales. Visitors can enjoy their favorite Sprague Farm brew or Pennsylvania wine in the rustic, beautifully refurbished barn loft, where they can also get some food from a small menu. There are often parties, concerts, and celebrations.

Strange Roots Experimental Ales

Strange Roots is a small craft brewery that started in Millvale community, just outside the Pittsburgh city limits, in a small brick building using a 2-barrel system. Their goal is to meld farmhouse brewing tradition with creative experimentation. They have an original tap room with a full kitchen and a charming outdoor beer garden where the visitors can taste their range of beers on tap. When they outgrew their original capacity, Strange Roots established an additional brewery in Gibsonia, with a simple 20-barrel brewing system and a weekend tasting room constructed from repurposed materials, surrounded by family farms, woodlands, and a small winery.

Aldus Brewing Company

Aldus Brewing Company is a full-production craft brewery established in 2014 in Hanover, PA. What started modestly in the former Snyders Pretzel Factory now produces a large range of beers, offering ten of them on tap, rotating regularly. Some of the most popular are American Blonde Ale and Olde Factory. This small urban brewery has a tiny tap room attached to the production facility, with a few tables and an attractive metallic bar. They serve free pretzels and a nice barbecue catered by Boneyard BBQ of Hanover. Tours of the brewery are offered by the friendly brewers, who are happy to share their secrets and show how the magic happens.

All Saints Brewing Company

All Saints Brewing Company is a micro-craft brewery located in Greensburg, PA, near Pittsburgh. Established in 2011, All Saints produces high-quality hand-crafted ales and lagers freshly made on the premises. Their JV Northwest 7-barrel system was originally installed in Greenburg, PA, in the RedStar Brewery, then expanded and brought to All Saints. The expanded system allows them to produce a large range of beers as well as their popular barley wines. All Saints Brewing Company was awarded the gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival for their Voodoo’s Child Lager in 2002. The inside of their small tap room has a bar that can seat six people as well as a few tables and booths, a golden tee game, and a pool table. There is nice outdoor space with picnic tables where All Saints offers frequent live music. Wednesday is their popular Trivia Night.

Beaver Brewing Company is a tiny nano-brewery in Beaver Falls, PA, that uses a 1.5-barrel system to produce hand-crafted beers, with small batches always tested before being bottled. They make a classic range of craft beer varieties as well as rotating experimental beers. All beers are made on-site. The beer is made 100% from locally sourced grains and spices and no extracts are ever used. They distribute their beers themselves, and tours of their brewery are organized every Saturday. Beaver Brewing has a wonderful cozy and comfortable tap room with plenty of seating, offering their line of beers on tap as well as a small assortment of food from their kitchen. There is outdoor space as well for those warm days and evenings.

Vault Brewing Company

Vault Brewing Company is an unique brewpub located in the quaint town of Yardley in Bucks County, PA, that was established in 2012. They specialize in traditional beer styles, live jazz, and wood-fired locally sourced food. The beers are poured fresh directly from giant tanks located just behind the bar, and the kitchen is wide open to public. They are located in a 125-year-old bank that was built for Yardley National Bank. The original bank vault is still intact and is used as a room for aging beers. The atmosphere in the tap room is of a speakeasy-style hip bar, elegant and upscale, with lots of gleaming metal and original bank details. They have a small menu of delicious pub grub and occasional live music.

Weyerbacher Brewing Company

Weyerbacher Brewing Company is a production brewery in Easton, PA, founded in 1995 in a livery stable, operating today from the 30,000-square-foot facility. The brewery is well known for its brews that are high in alcohol and have a “huge taste.” One of their 10th anniversary ales, called Decadence, had 13% alcohol by volume. Weyerbacher is a pioneer of aging beer in wooden barrels that were previously used for aging bourbon. This process gives the beers oak and whiskey flavors. Their tap room offers more than 20 beers on tap every day as well as live music and free tours of the brewery on weekends. There are regular events such as arts and crafts, yoga, and trivia nights. Yards Brewing Company

Yards Brewing Company is an expansive craft brewery located in Philadelphia, PA, that specializes in English ales. What started in 1988 as a homebrewing hobby by two friends was established formally in 1994 and quickly grew into a production brewery capable of making 55,000 barrels in 2015 from their latest 70,000-square-foot brewery and taproom. Philadelphia Pale Ale and Brawler are their most popular nationally recognized ales. They are particularly proud of being the first brewery in Pennsylvania to be 100% powered by wind. Their spacious tap room offers 20 taps of fresh Yards ales and a full menu of beer-friendly dishes crafted by Chef Jim Burke. There is a long circular bar and a bunch of communal tables in the high-ceilinged indoor space and tables outside in the shade of the towering steel brewing tanks.

Zeroday Brewing Co

Zeroday Brewing Co. is a brewery and tasting room located in the Midtown District of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The brewery occupies the back part of the historic Reily building, which also houses an urban creamery and an independent art house movie theater. Zeroday is located just a few blocks from the Pennsylvania State Capitol, a farmers market, and an art museum. The brewery specializes in clean, balanced ales and lagers. Their cozy spacious tasting room quickly became a social gathering space where guests can enjoy fresh Zeroday brews, local Pennsylvania wines, and local art on the walls.
