Once the “Midwest's Million Dollar Playground,” 5,800-acre Indian Lake was a high-demand resort area in the early 20th century. The lake and 800-acre park are still popular among boaters, anglers, beach goers, and campers. Both the size of the lake and the unlimited horsepower boating make this a great location for water skiing. Boaters can enjoy some swim time near Red Oak Island, Walnut Islands, and Oldfield Beach. There is excellent fishing for bass, walleye, perch, bluegill, and crappie. The park offers eight shaded picnic areas, five shelters, grills, and tables. The park also includes easy hiking trails, a nature center, children's playgrounds, a sand volleyball court, and bicycle rentals.
