Located in Laurelville, Ohio, Tar Hollow State Park is surrounded by the foothills of the Appalachian Plateau and is part of Tar Hollow State Forest. The park offers hiking trails, boating, fishing, and swimming on Pine Lake. The park is covered by scattered pitch pine and shortleaf groves intersected by deep ravines and meandering forest roads. In the spring, the hillsides are covered with blooming dogwoods, redbuds, and wildflowers. The park is even more beautiful in the fall when the trees put up a colorful show. It is also a popular destination for backpackers from Columbus. It offers picnic shelters, a general store, and camping.
