Lake Hope State Park is a 2,983-acre public recreation area within Zaleski State Forest, about five miles from Zaleski, Ohio. In the heart of the park is a 120-acre Lake Hope in the valley of Big Sandy Run. The whole region is rugged and heavily forested, crossed by steep gorges and narrow ridges. There are also remains of abandoned mining and iron-making industries surrounded by the incredibly beautiful scenery. The park has a network of hiking and mountain biking trails. It is also popular destination for boating, swimming, and fishing. There is a lodge that provides accommodation and area information. It has a gift shop and full service restaurant. There is also a large campground and a number of cottages for rent.
