The town of Hicksville, New York didn’t have its own public library until the year 1926, when it decided at a public meeting that the need for a library open to the general public was strong. The Hicksville Free Public Library officially opened in February of 1828. The current Hicksville Public Library officially opened with an “Open House” in March of 1951 and today includes comfortable reading spaces, public access computers, and an automated circulation system. The library also hosts a variety of programs, events, and activities for people of all ages throughout the year, particularly during the summer months.
