Just a short drive outside downtown Rochester, you'll find G and S Orchards, a family-owned fruit and vegetable farm spread out across 150 acres. The 'G' and 'S' stand for Gary and Stephanie, who have been farming the land for over three decades, using their know-how and experience to produce some of the tastiest fruit in the Rochester region.

This farm has been running You Pick services for more than 25 years now, offering pure, organic produce in a lot of different varieties. Apple picking is, of course, a big part of this farm, which also offers a whole range of berries, cherries, pumpkins, potatoes, leeks, melons, and so much more at various times of the year. Over a dozen different varieties of apples can be picked on this farm from August through to November, including Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Royal Empire, Fuji, and more.

Another family owned and run farm, Whittier Fruit Farm is one of the most popular apple picking spots in the area, especially with families. Why? Well, the apple trees at Whittier Fruit Farm are slightly shorter than many other trees in the area, making them the perfect height for an afternoon of apple picking. In addition, this farm offers more variety than almost any other apple picking location in the whole state of New York, with 32 different apple varieties just ready and waiting to be plucked from the trees and into your basket.

This farm also provides You Pick seasons for blueberries and pumpkins, as well as a super farm market with all sorts of fresh produce. Whittier Fruit Farm is also the only location in the area to offer SweeTango apples, a unique variety of apple that was developed back in the year 2000, offering a really crunchy bite and a whole lot of flavor.

One of the most popular You Pick spots in the Rochester area, Morgan's Farm Market has been running for over five decades and puts a big focus on produce quality. You can find some really tasty apples at this location, grown on land that has been very carefully looked after from one generation to the next.

Morgan's Farm Market offers over ten different varieties of apples for picking, including Crispin, Fuji, Red Delicious, Northern Spy, and Liberty, as well as several more that are available for purchase directly from the store. Due to the varieties grown here, the apple picking season at this location tends to start later than most, in October. So if you missed out on the early season apple picking, you can still stop off at Morgan's Fruit Farm for plenty of family fun.
