White Horse is a contemporary American-style bar and restaurant that was opened by Brian Lee in 2008 as an answer to the high number of corporate chain restaurants within the city. The restaurant, which is named after a locally famous turn-of-the-century downtown bar, showcases an all-scratch kitchen and is a popular hangout for St. Cloud State University students and professors. It has been honored by local publications as one of the city’s best restaurants and is dedicated to supporting the city’s local arts and culture scene, display the works of local artists and hosting live music performances from regional bands. Signature dishes include the restaurant’s Black and Bleu steak, miso chili glazed tuna, Thai peanut curry salmon, and Thai steak salad. Other menu items include build-your-own burgers, wrap sandwiches, and vegetarian options.
