Review & FAQ:

Located in South Boston on the scenic shore of Boston Harbor, Castle Island is a popular 22-acre recreation spot for Boston residents and the location of 1634m Fort Independence. Besides visiting the fort, the most popular activities include strolling along the beach, swimming, or sunbathing. There are few beaches to choose from.

Pleasure Bay Beach, south and west of Castle Island, has nice protected areas for swimming on the edge of the lagoon. Beaches along Day Boulevard have wonderful white sand and have lifeguards. Dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash and the owners clean up after them.
