Just an easy bike ride from town, Jetties Beach is a favorite Nantucket beach. It is very popular with families with kids as the water is warm, calm, and great for swimming. The wide expanse of packed sand has a plastic mat across the center of the beach to make walking through the sand easier. The beach has a range of facilities such as restrooms, showers, lifeguards, and a restaurant. Sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking lessons are available. Getting to the beach from town is easy thanks to the shuttle bus that runs during the season.
Dogs are welcome at the parts of Jetties Beach that are not guarded by lifeguards but have to be on a leash.
