Herring Cove, the most popular beach in Provincetown, is located at the tip of the Cape a few miles from downtown. This massive, wide beach is part of the National Seashore and has different areas, one of them only protected by lifeguard during the season. There is also a hot dog stand, two parking areas, restrooms, and showers. The beach is perfect for any kind of outdoor activity, from swimming and watching stunning sunsets to hiking or biking along the nearby trail.
Dogs are allowed on the parts of the Herring Cove beach not guarded by lifeguards but have to be on a leash. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
