At The Barn Winery is a charming Logan Township winery that is owned and operated by retirees Deb and Don Stutz, who bring more than 45 years of amateur winemaking experience to operations at the family's 1870 farm barn. A wide variety of small-batch dry, semi-sweet, and sweet wines are produced on a constantly rotating basis, including delicious blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, and peach fruit wines. Wine tastings are offered to the public on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between April and November, available for free. Visitors can also attend wine painting events, porch sign and wine crafting workshops, and live music performances throughout the year.

2. Belgian Horse Winery

Belgian Horse Winery is a charming small-batch winery owned and operated by the Harter family, known for six generations of farming and horse breeding experience in the Middletown, Indiana region. The winery is named in honor of the family's tradition of selling and breeding Belgian horses, including several prominent 19th-century colts that went on to win significant international horse-pulling championships. Visitors can taste the company's line of delicious grape and fruit wines, including high-quality raspberry, blackberry, pineapple, and apple wines, at regular wine tasting hours Wednesday through Sunday afternoons and evenings. Live music performances are presented on Wednesday evenings, highlighting the talents of local musicians and bands.

3. Brown County Winery

Brown County Winery was originally opened by Cynthia and Dave Schrodt in 1986 in a storefront within the heart of Nashville, Indiana's historic downtown village. The winery, which now operates a second location in nearby Gnaw Bone, produces a delicious selection of dry, semi-sweet, and sweet wines crafted from French hybrid grapes, including high-quality seasonal blends. Fruit and dessert wines are also crafted from berries and fruits such as plums, blackberries, and cranberries, available according to seasonal harvests. Tasting room visitors can view winery operations through floor-to-ceiling glass windows at the Gnaw Bone facility or taste wines at both locations. Gift items are also sold at both locations, including wines by the case and wine accessories.

4. Buck Creek Winery

Buck Creek Winery is one of Indianapolis' premiere wineries, originally founded in 2006 by award-winning amateur winemaker Jeff Durm. Since its opening, the winery has won more than 100 medals and awards at the prestigious Indy International Wine Competition. As Marion County's only estate vineyard and winery, the winery maintains 4.5 acres of private vineyard land, located within Indianapolis' southeastern corner. Visitors can taste six wines of their choosing as part of year-round tasting opportunities, available every day at the company's public Indianapolis tasting room. Live music performances throughout the spring and summer months highlight regional and national touring acts, hosted at the winery's outdoor pavilion.

5. Butler Winery and Vineyards

Butler Winery and Vineyards are Indiana's fourth-oldest winery, originally founded in 1983 by Susan and Jim Butler. The beautiful Bean Blossom Valley vineyard, which is located within the Indiana Uplands AVA, offers three winery locations throughout the Bloomington region, all open to the public seven days a week. The company's main Bloomington vineyards location offers cellar tours on weekends, elaborating on the winery's production process. Tasting rooms also offer samples of high-quality red, white, sparkling, and fruit wines at the company's downtown Bloomington and nearby Chesterton tasting rooms. Indoor and outdoor seating is offered at all locations, including seasonal outdoor patios for enjoying wines by the bottle or by the glass.

6. Carousel Winery

Carousel Winery was originally opened in Mitchell, Indiana by Marion and Sue Wilson, founded in 2003. Since its opening, the winery has received hundreds of national and international awards for its unique red, white, spiced, and fruit wines, including unique pomegranate and cherry wines and the company's award-winning White Dove White blend. Tasting hours are offered Wednesdays through Sundays, with the exception of major holidays and special event closures. Guests can sample their choice of more than a dozen fine wines for a nominal fee. Six acres of beautiful picnic and lawn space is offered for enjoying wines and bring-your-own food, flanked by rows of sample French-American hybrid grapes on display. The winery also showcases the artistic works of Sue Wilson and other Mitchell-area artists, presented each first Saturday of the month as part of Artist on Review events.

7. Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co.

Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co. is Morgan City's first winery, originally opened in 2010 by the Elsner family. The winery, which now offers a second tasting room location in downtown Nashville, produces high-quality sweet, semi-sweet, and dessert wines, along with an extensive selection of barrel-aged variants, including Valpolicella, Malbec, Shiraz, and Traminette varietals. Winery tastings and tours are offered on site at the winery's Morgan City location, which is also home to a brewery and distillery producing craft beers and spirits. Special events hosted at the winery throughout the year include an annual Drink at the Creek concert series, which offers live music performances May through October.

8. Country Heritage Winery

Country Heritage Winery is a family-owned and operated winery housed on the Blueberry Acres family farm of Jennifer and Jeremy Lutter, originally opened to the public in 2011. Since its opening, the winery has been noted as the most-awarded winery in the nation and has crafted more than two dozen regionally-recognized wines, including a Traminette selected as the best of its varietal in the state in 2012. Other grape varietals cultivated include Marquette, Marechal Foch, La Crescent, Vignoles, and Concord. Two complimentary daily tastings are offered at the company's public tasting room, with additional tastings available for purchase for a nominal fee. Free winery tours are offered twice daily on Saturdays, led by experienced wine experts. A showroom sells locally-produced edibles and home items, including fine chocolates and wine accessories.
