1. Bier Brewery & Tap Room
Bier Brewery & Tap Room is a state, national, and international award-winning brewery and tap room in downtown Indianapolis. Since 2010, the popular local spot has been hand-crafting their beer in small batches and has produced more than 130 different varieties, with draft availability changing weekly. Nine beers are available on tap, with all customers encouraged to try complimentary samples of each beer. Pints and growler fills are offered for purchase, along with to-go can sales, which have been available since 2015. The dog-friendly brewery hosts game nights and live music at its tap room on a weekly basis. In the fall of 2018, Bier Brewery opened a second public location in nearby Carmel.

2. Broad Ripple Brewpub
Broad Ripple Brewpub is an English-style pub and brewery established by husband and wife team John and Nancy Hill. At its 1990 opening, Broad Ripple was the first brewpub in Indiana and is currently the oldest continuously-operating brewery in the state. The brewery focuses on rye ales and award-winning cask styles, including The Hills Have Ryes, made in collaboration with Upland Brewing, and High and Rye, a traditional German-style rye. A large menu of classic bar and comfort food is served at its family-friendly and dog-friendly tap room, including many vegetarian, vegan, and health-conscious options. Outside, a large patio accommodates outdoor games in season.

3. Chapman's Brewing Company
Chapman's Brewing Company was originally opened in 2012 by a group of Steuben County homebrewers and offers five tap room facilities today throughout Indiana, including a downtown Fort Wayne location that has partnered with local coffee makers Fortezza Coffee, serving craft coffee in the mornings and drafts throughout the afternoon and evening hours. Other locations include a Columbia City location housed within the city’s historic Central Building, a Wabash tap room within an 1837 livery stable, and a southwest Fort Wayne location serving a full menu of pub fare. All locations offer drafts, growler fills, and to-go sales of the brewery’s flagship beers, including its Englishman Southern Brown Ale, Valiant American Stout, Enlighten Kolsch, and Undaunted Single Hop IPA.

4. Chilly Water Brewing Company
Chilly Water Brewing Company is an Indianapolis brewery that was opened in 2014 that serves as a popular after-work hangout. The brewery’s modern industrial-chic tap room serves a wide variety of light American fare, including paninis, burgers, and wrap sandwiches. Beers served on draft include the brewery’s Built to Last Pilsner, One Hop Wonder IPA, 5-String ESB, Ziggy Stardust Saison, and Blazin’ Fiddles Scottish Ale, which won the Best in Show award at the 2015 Indiana Brewers Cup. Live music performances are hosted at the brewery periodically, with rental space available for private parties and events hosting up to 40 people.

5. Crown Brewing
Crown Brewing is a Crown Point craft microbrewery that was founded in 2008 by local residents Dave Bryan and Tim Walsh. It bears the name of the city’s former turn-of-the-century brewery, which closed its doors in 1916. Today, the brewery offers a variety of year-round ales, including its Mayzie Cream Ale, Beauregard Blueberry Ale, Industrial Porter, and Special Forces IPA, all available at its public tap room facility. It hosts a variety of public special events throughout the year, including an annual Oktoberfest celebration held in conjunction with the city. Next door, Carriage Court Pizza serves dine-in and takeout pizzas, which may be brought into the brewery’s tap room.

6. Deviate Brewing
Deviate Brewing operates under a philosophy of striving to deviate from the norm of craft brewing, applying a wide variety of unique brewing approaches and techniques to the creation of its brews. Many of its beers are designed around flavor profiles of classic food pairings, such as its Blueberry Tarragon Ale or its Watermelon Mint Ale. Others try for experimental takes on common beer styles, such as its Hawaiian Imperial Stout or Peanut Butter IPA. Though the brewery’s Indianapolis tap room does not serve its own food, rotating food truck pop-ups are hosted on site periodically, and delivery is available from a number of nearby restaurants.

7. Fountain Square Brewery
Fountain Square Brew Co. opened a public tap room and brewery facility in the summer of 2010, striving to become a local hangout for the downtown Indianapolis area. The brewery’s owners have backgrounds in chemistry and microbiology and strive to craft unique high-quality beers with long-lasting shelf stability and a high level of flavor consistency. Brews offered at its tap room include the brewery’s flagship Workingman’s Pilsner, Preacher’s Daughter Amber Ale, Hop for Teacher Pale Ale, Soul Ride IPA, and Backyard Porter. Pints and pitchers are available for purchase, along with growler fills and to-go sales of the brewery’s ales.
