Set on 4,000 acres of beautiful landscapes in Jackson and Union Counties, Giant City State Park is an Illinois state park and haven for nature and outdoor enthusiasts. The park offers a wide variety of recreational activities, ranging from hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking to rock climbing, picnicking, and trail running. Popular hiking trails in the park include the Red Cedar Trail, the Giant City Nature Trail, and the Trillium Trail and a rustic overnight lodge with a gift shop and restaurant and quaint log cabins are available for camping and overnight stays. Other attractions in the park include the Giant City Stone Fort Site, a prehistoric stone fort that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
