Brookfield Zoo, also known as the Chicago Zoological Park, is home to around 450 species of animals ranging from dolphins to gorillas. Set on 216 acres in Brookfield, Chicago, the animal sanctuary was the first of its kind to use moats instead of cages to separate animals and visitors instead of pens. The zoo was also the first to have an indoor rain forest simulation habitat, the first to exhibit giant pandas and the first to build an indoor dolphin exhibit. The zoo offers a variety of educational programs for all ages, including workshops, presentations and demonstrations, sleepover safaris, family play programs, and zoo camps.
