Along with great coffee, Baked & Wired in Washington, DC’s historic Georgetown district serves small-batch baked goods that are made using family recipes and innovative minds. The microbrewed chai, handcrafted espresso drinks, and expertly roasted coffee pair great with the bakery’s variety of homemade baked goods. The Baked and Wired menu features coffee and espresso from a number of coffee roasters, including Intelligentsia, Mountain Air, Barismo, Elixr, and more. Each coffee beverage served at the bakery and coffee shop is made by knowledgeable and professional baristas and the fresh milk used in drinks comes from the nearby Trickling Springs.

Compass Coffee is a coffee company committed to simply providing “really good coffee.” They don’t really attempt to make anything fancy, difficult to pronounce, or too crazy, just simple, really good coffee. Everything Compass Coffee does is focused around this concept, from the espresso drinks and signature coffee blends to the layout and ambiance of the cafe. The name of the coffee company comes for a desire to start the day of each customer off “on the right track” and keep their day “going in the right direction.” The original Compass Coffee location was established in 2014 by two Marine Corps veterans.

3. Crumbs & Whiskers - A Cat Cafe Experience

Crumbs & Whiskers - A Cat Cafe Experience offers a true “cat cafe” experience in the middle of Georgetown. The coffee shop and cat cafe rescues homeless cats with the goal of getting them adopted while also providing guests with a place to play and cuddle with cats. Advanced reservations are highly recommended for Crumbs and Whiskers in order for visitors to be guaranteed entry. Entry to the cat cafe and coffeehouse is limited to ensure the health and safety of the cats, operating on a “first-booked, first-served” basis. Crumbs and Whiskers partners with nearby local businesses to provide food to its customers.

4. Cafe Georgetown

Opened in 2018, Cafe Georgetown strives to bring the idea of community the Georgetown neighborhood by not only providing great coffee, but by also providing a place for people to gather, to meet with friends and make new ones, or to simply relax with a good cup of coffee and enjoy the company around them. Cafe Georgetown serves fine wine, freshly baked pastries, and artful coffee drinks inside of an elegant cafe, featuring a sun-drenched patio, royal blue walls and posh accents. The cafe also hosts various events throughout the year and has a host of VIP memberships.

5. Midnight Mug

The Midnight Mug community room and coffee shop is located in the Lauinger Library at Georgetown University, offering a good place for a caffeinated beverage and to hang out with friends. The coffeehouse serves a wide variety of tasty coffee drinks, as well as an array of snacks to help fuel studying. The coffee shop features an always evolving menu, including seasonal specials in the summer to cool customer down or warm them up in the winter.
