In addition, the museum is home to the Payne Auditorium, where the Smith County Historical Society meets on a monthly basis with the aim of collecting and preserving data, records, and items relating to the history of Smith County. The society also provides public education about the history of Smith County and maintains the museum’s exhibits and archival collections for future generations.
