Review:

Resting next to Île Saint-Honorat is Île Sainte-Marguerite (Sainte-Marguerite Island), the largest of the Lérins Islands and home to the famous 17th century Fort Royal fortress prison. Spanning 1.8 miles in length and almost 3,000 feet wide, the island was used as a state prison in the late 1600s, incarcerating several infamous prisoners until its closure in the 20th century. Today, the fort houses the Museum of the Sea and a youth hostel, and visitors can explore the prison cells on guided tours. The island has lovely dense forests and beautiful beaches and offers a tranquil escape from the crowds of Cannes in the summer.
