The Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival) is a world-renowned international festival held every May that celebrates art-house and mainstream cinema. The red-carpet event draws famous filmmakers and movie stars from around the world, as well as journalists, critics, and fans, turning the seaside resort town into a glamorous party. Most of the action takes place on the famous Boulevard de la Croisette, however, all the theaters, cinemas, and hotels throughout the city are packed with festival-goers.
