Death Valley National Park is one of the United States' most beautiful natural wonders, straddling the border between California and Nevada. The park protects landmarks like Titus Canyon, which showcases colorful rock formations and the remains of a pioneer-era ghost town, and the salt flats of Badwater Basin, the lowest elevation point in North America, which sits at an elevation of 282 feet below sea level. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Mojave and Colorado Deserts Biosphere Reserve, home to stunning nature trails and beautiful designated wilderness areas. Overnight camping is permitted at nine campground areas throughout the park, some of which permit well-behaved pets on leashes. A beautiful private resort is operated at the Oasis at Death Valley (video), showcasing inn and ranch-style accommodations.
