The Hillsboro Public Library is a public library with two locations in Hillsboro in Shute Park and the Brookwood Library in the city center. Opened in 1975, the Shute Park Library is the oldest of the two libraries in the system and is based in a triangular-shaped building with 15,000 square feet of space that houses over 57,000 literary items, ranging from books and audio materials to periodicals and videos. The Brookwood Library is housed in a two-story building encompassing 76,000 square feet and boasts a collection of more than 300,000 items. The library hosts story readings in a variety of languages, including Bengali, Spanish, Japanese, and Mandarin, and an art gallery featuring local artists is housed on the second floor.
