San Anselmo is a small town north of San Francisco, with fewer than 13,000 residents, that refers to itself as the antiques capitol of Northern California. The town was established in the late 1800’s around the San Francisco Theological Seminary, but quickly grew after the infamous San Francisco earthquake and fires of 1906, when many part-time residents made their permanent home there. Enjoy strolling through charming neighborhoods with architecture spanning the early 20th century. Shop or browse the town’s antique stores, vintage shops, bookstores and cafes on San Anselmo Avenue downtown. Several art galleries and a playhouse add to the area’s culture. The small town is surrounded by outdoor recreation opportunities, state parks and national seashore.
