California’s Pinnacles National Park preserves volcanic geological formations that date back over 23 million years. The unique landscape offers canyon bottoms, chaparral, and oak woodlands. The hiker’s paradise is a prime spot for viewing golden eagles, falcons, and the California condor. Over 30 miles of trails cross the varied terrain. Maps and information are available at any of the three Visitor’s Centers (Video). Bring a flashlight to visit the park’s caves and local bat population. Rock climbing is popular throughout the volcanic, jagged terrain. Ranger programs include condor talks, star parties and guided hikes and vary seasonally.
