Alameda is a city on Alameda Island, located just south of Oakland in the San Francisco Bay. The town offers restaurants, shopping and an extensive parks system with plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Museums include the USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum, which is located on a retired aircraft carrier. The Pacific Pinball Museum inspires interest in science and American culture through games.

Visit Spirit’s Alley, once a Naval Air Station and now home to several tasting rooms and artisan distilleries. The island’s Crown Memorial Beach has been rated among the best spots in the United States for kite boarding and windsurfing. Take a lesson, or enjoy watching.
