The Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has been a protected area since 1968 when it received this designation under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act. The area includes two national nature reserves, more than one hundred cultural heritage sites, and a great diversity of landscapes and habitats. Outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, and horseback riding during the day and stargazing at night are popular activities in the Norfolk Coast AONB. Visitors are encouraged to learn about the area and take part in its preservation with regularly scheduled educational events such as geology walks and history workshops.
