Established in 1845, the United States Naval Academy is responsible for educating and training officers for both the Navy and the Marine Corps. Visitors are permitted on the campus, but everyone over the age of 18 must present a valid piece of government-issued photo ID.
There is a Visitor Center located right inside Gate 1, and it features an interactive exhibit as well as a gift shop. Guided public walking tours of the campus are available all throughout the year, although the frequency and times of the tours vary with the season. Special group tours are available for groups of 16 people or more.
