Known for its scenic beauty, the Blue Ridge Parkway is the longest National Parkway in the United States. The road was originally constructed to connect Shenandoah National Park to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and it runs for 469 miles along the Blue Ridge mountain chain. 14 Visitor Centers are located along the road, but the hours of each vary according to the season.

There are also a number of attractions that make good pit stops, including the Craggy Gardens, the Linville Falls, and the Humpback Rocks.
