Review:

Located on the Santa Lucia Mountains' western slope the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park towers above the Big Sur River Gorge, where the Big Sur River flows into the park.

You can take a walk along the river banks and enjoy the dense forest of majestic redwoods, oaks, sycamores, conifers, cottonwoods, alders, maples and willows.

There is a large campground in the park and many campsites along the River. As you hike through the park, watch for bobcats, gray squirrels, raccoons, black-tail deer, skunks, and many kinds of birds.

The trails are well-maintained and all are very picturesque and scenic, and there is even a self-guided nature trail. If camping is not for you, check out Big Sur Lodge in the park, featuring 61 guest rooms and a conference center.
