The Cartecay Vineyards sit just outside of Ellijay, Georgia nestled in the heart of the southern Appalachian Mountains. During a visit, wine lovers can tour the vineyards and sip on different Cartecay productions in the tasting barn. Located in Cleveland, Georgia, CeNita Vineyards open from 11:30 AM to 6 PM or until 7 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. The winery first opened five decades ago after the founders, Cecil and Juanita Crumley, purchased the farmland. The vineyard’s name comes from the combination of Cecil and Juanita. The vineyard has remained in the family, who continues running the property through the power of “faith, hope, and love”. CeNita hosts both indoor and outdoor weddings, executive retreats, corporate meetings, and other events.

From reds to whites, popular Chateau wines include the Ellijay Christmas White and Red, Cyzer, Viognier, Vidal Blanc, and Zinfandel. Although just two hours away from Atlanta, the vineyard gives a place to escape from the city and enjoy the fresh mountain air. In the tasting room, visitors can sip wines, dine on tapas, and listen to live music. Guests can tour the winery every Saturday at 2 PM for $30 per guest. Tours end with a tasting and cheese platter. Crane Creek Vineyards closes on Mondays, but opens from 11 AM to 6 PM, Tuesday through Saturday, and 1 PM to 5 PM on Sundays.

The family-owned establishment started out as an apple orchard before switching their endeavors to making hand-crafted wines. The winery hosts tastings and live music each week, posting upcoming events on the website. The 24-acre estate serves as an ideal location for indoor and outdoor private events as well with views of the vineyards and Currahee Mountains. Those living outside of Georgia can still enjoy Currahee wines as the company ships to 35 states.
