The Thousand Steps Trail is nestled in Franklin Mountains State Park, and offers visitors excellent hiking, biking and rock climbing opportunities. The trail is four miles in length with an elevation of 2,175 feet. The trail is marked as strenuous and takes about three hours to complete round trip.

The desert climate adds to the difficulty of the trail, so bringing good gear suitable for rough rocky terrain and plenty of water is imperative. The trail is not subject to the Franklin Mountains Park hours, but it is recommended that hikers travel between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
