Opened in 2010, Railroad Park gets its name from the fact that it lies immediately south of two rail lines that pass through downtown Birmingham. The park is managed by the Railroad Park Foundation and is owned by the City of Birmingham. Known as “Birmingham’s Living Room,” the park is a popular green space in the city and is used for concerts, cultural events, family activities and recreation.
The park consists of over 600 trees, many different kinds of flowers, paths, and water features including a lake, wetlands, ponds, and streams.
