The property is owned by the City of Birmingham. Built between 1845 and 1850, the two story house was built in antebellum-era Greek Revival style.
Listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the house is a decorative arts museum with a large collection of 19th century furniture, paintings, silver, and textiles. The restored garden room is often used for special occasions.
