The Acadian Cultural Center is dedicated to educating the public about the culture of the Cajun people. The center is located on Fisher Road not far from the Vermilionville Historic Village, and it focuses on the origins, movement, and settlement of the Cajuns, or Acadians, who were originally from Canada and then settled in Louisiana. Visitors can borrow portable media players at the Visitor Center.
There are also exhibits, films, and ranger programs including ranger-guided boat tours on the ship called Cocodrie, as well as special events like dance, music, and storytelling, and programs such as school field trips, Girl Scout and Boy Scout programs, and summer camps.
