Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:

There is no shortage of beautiful parks in North Carolina, but Umstead State Park is particularly well-loved by outdoor enthusiasts thanks to the immense network of multi-use trails found within its 5,599 acres. Umstead State Park is frequently visited by hikers, cyclists, trail runners, and even equestrians, but is also favored by water sports and camping enthusiasts. Trailheads start on both sides of the park with access points along Interstates 40 and US 70. Meanwhile, the park is bordered by three gorgeous manmade lakes, the largest of which is canoeing and rowing. Visitors who are fond of fishing can stop by any of the lakes to cast lines, while several group campsites are available to the public in addition to the historic Maple Hill Lodge.
