Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust is a nature center and land trust in Woodbury that holds and conserves 2,100 acres of open space in seven preserves in the regions of Bethel, Middlebury, Southbury, and Woodbury. These include the Fleming Preserve, the Leavenworth Preserve, the Fredrick W. Marzahl Memorial Refuge, the Hetzel Refuge, the Manville Kettle, the Whittemore Sanctuary, and the Van Vleck Farm and Nature Sanctuary, which houses a teaching campus with a farmhouse, a trail house, a studio, barns, and a sugar house. Focusing on conservation, the center offers nature-related classes and workshops, field trips, summer camps, and after-school programs.
