Standing on nearly 11,000 acres of land, the Housatonic State Forest offers many sights to see and activities to do. The massive state park spans multiple towns including Sharon, Cornwall, Canaan, and others. Visitors will be able to see the diverse wildlife living within the park along with a section of the famous Appalachian Trail which stretches from Georgia to Maine. The park also holds two Connecticut Natural Area Preserves which showcase the state’s rare plant and animal species, as well as natural history. Aside from hiking, the park also offers other activities such as letterboxing, mountain boxing, snowboarding, and other recreational activities.
