Rombauer Vineyards is one of the oldest wineries in the Napa Valley and has been owned and operated by the Rombauer family for several generations now. It all begin in 1972, when husband and wife duo Koerner and Joan Rombauer decided to uproot and head off to forge a new life for themselves in Napa Valley. They traveled with their two children and several animals, hoping to take their love of wine and use that passion to power an amazing new family project.
Napa Valley is by far one of the most prolific and significant wine regions in all of the United States, if not the entire world. Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, unique geography, and high quality soils, the Napa Valley American Viticultural Area produces some of the finest grapes in America and has become home to some of the country's leading wineries, with Rombauer Vineyards standing as one of the very best.
The Story of Rombauer Vineyards
The Rombauer Vineyards was established several years later, in 1980 to be precise, and now, decades on from then, it stands as one of the premier wineries in the whole Napa Valley AVA, with the second and third-generation Rombauer family members carrying right on where Koerner and Joan left off, crafting and creating a range of amazing, award-winning wines that have blown away critics and casual wine enthusiasts alike and continuing to set a standard by all California winemakers to follow.
The Wines of Rombauer Vineyards
Like any good winery, Rombauer Vineyards has adapted and evolved over the years, with the Rombauer family making use of their amazing land to grow a wide variety of grapes and produce a strong and varied selection of bottles, many of which have won multiple awards and been ranked as some of the best Napa Valley wines of all.
Rombauer is perhaps most commonly associated with its Chardonnays, but also produces a superb selection of additonal wines including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Sauvignon Blanc. This Napa Valley vineyard and winery has also developed a reputation for crafting some delicious dessert wines including Zinfandel Port and Late Harvest Chardonnay. Rombauer Vineyards wines can be purchased online, direct from the vineyard, or enjoyed as part of a wine club membership.
Rombauer Vineyards Wine Club
Rombauer Vineyards actually offers several different wine clubs to choose from. Again, breaking from tradition and proving itself to be a true pioneer of California wine-making, Rombauer Vineyards has provided this varied selection of wine club memberships in order to appeal to a larger audience and provide perfect experiences that suit everyone, rather than simply offering a one-size-fits-all approach.
Some of the clubs you can choose from include the Dessert Club, which specializes in dessert wines and runs two shipments per year of two bottles each. The Zinfandel Club is another popular choice, offering 12 bottles in January and 6 bottles in October with multiple Zinfandel varieties including in each shipment.
Of course, Rombauer Vineyards is well-known for its Chardonnays, so you might also be interested in the Chardonnay Club, which offers 12 bottles per shipment with three shipments each year, or there's the smaller 4 Bottle Chardonny Club option which provides three shipments of just four bottles, ideal for individuals or couples. Another good option is the Classic Club, which offers three shipments each year and two bottles per shipment; these bottles are some of the newest released and limited-time only bottles and can include all varietals like Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.
