Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:
L'Ardoise is an upscale French bistro in San Francisco's hip Castro district, offering dinner service Tuesdays through Saturdays in a casual neighborhood cafe setting. The restaurant, which is name for the French word for chalkboard, a nod to its rotating bistro menu, is helmed by James Beard-nominated executive chef Thierry Clement, a French Alps transplant best known for his work at the Basque-inspired Fringale. Since the restaurant's 2008 opening, it has received excellent reviews from regional and national publications such as Zagat, acclaimed for menu offerings such seven-hour-cooked traditional duck leg confit, bistro coq au vin, seafood and shellfish cassoulet, and black Angus filet mignon prepared with pommes landaises and white truffle oil. High-quality appetizers such as terrine de foie gras are available for sharing, complemented by fine French wines available by the glass or by the bottle.
