Lake Poway is a man-made dam/reservoir which was built in the early 1970’s to provide water storage and a recreational area for local residents.

Today the 35-acre lake and its surrounds provide a range of recreational opportunities including a 2.75-mile hiking trail around the perimeter of the lake and several fun boating options. You can hire pedal boats, motor boats or canoes on site. Swimming is not allowed in Lake Poway (because it is used to supply potable water to the community) but fishing is a very popular activity for most of the year. There is also an archery range and various picnic areas for visitors to enjoy.
