The Children’s Museum of Stockton is a non-profit organization which was developed long before it opened in 1994. The idea was the brainchild of Founding Director, Janet Geng, who was a teacher wounded in the tragic 1989 Cleveland School shootings. As a way of healing, Janet wanted to create a safe place where children and their families could come together to learn and play, and the Children’s Museum of Stockton was born. Today, there are over 40 interactive exhibits in the 22,000 square foot space which inspire children to explore, imagine, and create. Some of the most popular exhibits include the Galaxy Room, Dr. Barker’s Pet Clinic, the Nature Station, an Agricultural Farm, the CMS News Station, the Lego Derby Area, and the Reptile Display. In addition to the exhibits, the museum also has several events which people can attend throughout the year.
