Considering the long and rich mining history of Grass Valley, it only makes sense that some of the top things to do would be to visit some of its old mines. This is exactly what visitors can look forward to at the North Star Historic Conservancy, which is nestled within 700 acres of land.

The conservancy features two main mine shafts, stamp mills, and other operational buildings, all of which were active between 1851 and 1956. Apart from being a top historical attraction, the North Star Historic Conservancy is also home to a beautiful path of greenery called The Heritage Garden, which is a popular wedding venue for locals of Nevada County.
