A California Historical Landmark, the Lola Montez House was once the home of an internationally acclaimed singer and dancer who moved to California in 1853.

At this home, Lola Montez once entertained guests in elaborate parties in her salon, mentored Lotta Crabtree, and even kept a pet bear. When Lola Montez left Grass Valley later in 1855, her home was preserved and remodeled, but was still condemned. The house that now stands on 248 Mill Street is a replica of what once housed Lola Montez, and now serves as a small museum as well as the headquarters of the Nevada County Chamber of Commerce.
