Right in the heart of Palm Springs is a luxurious hideaway that has catered to local and foreign guests in an old-world style resort since its establishment in the 1930s. Settled right between the downtown area and the San Jacinto Mountains, the Avalon Hotel stands in stark contrast to the surrounding desert, offering 67 luxurious guestrooms, 13 one and two bedroom villas with historical significance, three large pools, a spa, and a restaurant, all of which are surrounded by beautiful gardens.
From the year 2003, the resort has been undergoing renovations under the direction of Kelly Wearstler, Interior Design, to bring about Palm Spring’s Golden Age with a Hollywood Regency theme. Since then, it has lived up to its brand as one of Avalon’s luxurious resorts; it is a desert gem that caters to guests from all walks of life.
Visits to the resort have steadily increased over the years, and it has become the destination of choice for those looking for music and celebration. Guests are drawn to events like popular music festivals such as Stagecoach and Coachella. The demographic of guests going to this resort is slowly diversifying, giving even more reasons and opportunities for future visitors to plan a vacation there.

Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed with a glass of Ague de Jamaica as the concierge and staff prepare their rooms for check-in, and those who travel by car will get valet parking service. They will also be introduced to their villa manager.
There are six different types of rooms available.
Sovereign Villas. These are villas with two bedrooms and two bathrooms each, and they are all situated at the corners between the Regency and Fountain Courtyard Gardens. These villas are primarily intended for groups since the rooms are capable of comfortably sleeping four to six guests. The villas also offer a patio, living room, kitchen, dining room, and a fireplace.
Dorrington Villas. Equipped with a fully furnished living room, kitchen, dining area, and a fireplace, these single bedroom villas can accommodate two to four guests. They are near the Sovereign Villas, and are thus also close to the Regency and Fountain Court Gardens. Each bedroom has a king size bed plus a sleeper sofa. The villas also have a patio with banquette seating. This is a good choice for those looking for a bit more privacy.
Wetherly Suites. The one bedroom suites are among the most luxurious accommodations at the Avalon Hotel Palm Springs. They feature a separate living room and a balcony or sun patio where guests can enjoy the outdoor view. Fully furnished, the bedroom comes with a king size bed.
Premium Studios. Scattered throughout the hotel’s luxurious landscape, every one of these Premium Studios offer a potentially different experience for guests. While all the rooms are fully furnished, they differ in many ways. Most rooms offer patios or balconies, and guests will have a different view that depends on the room they get. They can opt for views of the mountain, the city, or pools, or they can choose a Premium Studio located in more secluded area for privacy.
Premium Courtyard Studios. These are just like the Premium Studios, except they are meant for those travelling with a companion. Each one offers more space within the room, and the patios and balconies – if available – will allow the two guests to take in a great view. Some rooms also have vaulted fireplaces.
Regency Kings. Those looking for a truly intimate setting can opt for the Regency Kings accommodations. These 250 sq. ft. spaces allow guests to make the most of their trip to the desert. They are smaller compared to the other rooms, but that’s because they are meant for guests who intend to be out and about more than being in the room. They’re great for those planning to maximize those daytime hikes and museum trips. Each room has one king sized bed.
All rooms are fully furnished and have high speed Wi-Fi, custom terry robes, Italian designer linens, curated mini bars, LCD TV with programming, and a tablet. Pet owners will also be happy to know that the resort is actually pet-friendly. They can bring their pets along, subject to rules and regulations. Other guests can also enjoy the hotel’s amenities with the $35 nightly resort fee, which includes: Wi-Fi access, Access to the wellness centre, Parking, Yoga and Meditation Classes, and Use of resort bicycles.

Avalon Hotel Palm Springs values the importance of weddings and other events of its guests. On top of good food and great accommodations for friends, family, and guests, the resort provides a wide selection of venues that will fit the nature and purpose of the function as well as the preferences of the patrons.
The Regency Courtyard is one of the best venues for a wedding ceremony in the resort. It has a great view of the San Jacinto Mountain Range, giving the couple a beautiful backdrop for their guests to behold.
The Ballroom, on the other hand, is a great choice for the wedding reception as well as other special events like corporate dinners or family reunions. Almost everything in this venue sparkles in white, giving the whole place a sophisticated and elegant feel.
The Presidio Courtyard, on the other hand, is like an outdoor version of the ballroom. Pre-nuptial, reception, corporate, and family guests for whatever event will delight in the iconic natural setting that the gardens around the courtyard provide. And at night, guests will find themselves under the beautifully starlit night sky.
The Presidio Pool and Regency Pool are also great choices for certain functions, especially those that are meant to be fun, like family reunions or birthday parties. They are also great for cocktails and receptions. Whether the host means to have guests swim in the pool or not, the poolside venues are nevertheless elegant choices for many types of events.
Finally, there are certain suites and villas that can be used for formal but smaller gatherings such as business meetings. The accommodations will have comfortable seating for a number of guests while giving them the privacy they need for the gathering. Of course, the suites will be fully furnished, and the host will be able to use the kitchen and dining rooms when necessary. Of course, these venues can be altered and designed to suit the host’s needs.
