Encompassing more than 1,100 acres spread out over five tiny, interconnected islands, Fort De Soto Park offers beaches, forests, and plenty of nature trails. Leashed dogs are permitted in almost every part of the park, but the highlights for pet owners are the quarter-mile-long off-leash dog beach and the enclosed 2.5-acre dog park. Doggie showers are provided for pups of every size in the dog park for when it's time to rinse off the sand, and dogs who would enjoy exploring the rest of the park are welcome to join their owners on the park's 7 miles of trails.
