Located on the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation about ten miles southwest of Tucson, the Mission San Xavier del Bac is a popular attraction for day trippers. The mission, which was built in 1797, if often referred to as the “white dove in the desert” and is widely revered for its beautiful architecture and artwork which features Spanish, Mexican and Indian influences. Free tours of the mission are offered daily from Monday to Saturday and you can attend mass in the church every day of the week – check the schedule on line.
