The Lookout Mountain Preserve , found in the northern area of the city, provides many trails for mountain biking and hiking, as well as some spectacular scenic vistas. The trailhead to access the preserve is located adjacent to Sudden Valley and can be reached by bus by the 512 line of Whatcom Transit Authority. Spanning more than four thousand acres on Lake Whatcom’s west side, the preserve offers plenty of trails to be explored, such as the Waterfall Trail. It’s advised that those choosing to hike that many trails in the Lookout Mountain Preserve bring plenty of water.
