The Arizona Folklore Preserve is a story of one man’s dream that came true, the story of the Official State Balladeer of Arizona, Dolan Ellis. He wanted there to be a place where stories and songs celebrating the state and its western culture and heritage could be preserved and performed. The Arizona Folklore Preserve was founded by Dolan and performances began in the Moffett House, their property’s small ranch house from the 1920’s. in June of 1996. Performances are now help in a state-of-the-art Folklore Center after partnering with the University of Arizona in 2000, ensuring the folklore will continue.
