The Rick Wilcox Magic Theater is much more than a venue. The Wisconsin Dells theater has it very own story to share with guests. When the illusionists Rick and Suzan Wilcox found this theater, it was still known as the old "Country Legends Theater." The building dates back to the 1980's as a teen dance club before it was converted in 1990 to a country music theater. The couple's initial visit during which they first explore the vacant theater lasted almost seven hours. They saw sheer potential, unfazed by the shambles of concession stands and broken-down seating.
There were plenty of flaws in the theater, but these natives to Wisconsin were sure that they had found the perfect venue for their show, a place to chance their life on the road to performing show nearly every night in the same location. Following several months of renovation, the Wilcox's welcomed an audience made up of local businesses for an open house, along with two debut shows. The Rick Wilcox Magic Theater open to the public in May of 1999 to an audience of almost seven hundred people for the inaugural thirty-minute magic show.
The theater today is open throughout the entire year and is ninety-minute award-winning live show, featuring comedy, grand illusions, magic, and more than three hundred special effects and light cues. The once old run-down theater has become a memorable, "must-see" attraction in Wisconsin Dells through the vision and talent of Rick and Suzan Wilcox. With new illusions each year and volunteers every night, the Rick Wilcox magic show is always fun and fresh, even for guests who have previously been to the theater.

More Ideas: The Palace Theater
The Palace Theater in the Dells is a multi-use dinner theater venue situated in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Located within “the Water Park Capital of the World,” a phrase trademarked by Wisconsin Dells, this 800-seat facility opened its doors to the public after a large-scale renovation in 2014. The Palace Theater offers three to four year-round state-of-the-art theater productions, including Broadway musicals and Disney classics. A ticket to one of the performances also includes a three-course meal created by the on-site kitchen and served by the theater’s team of table servers. Stand-up comedians, musical concerts, and nationally well-known bands also perform at the Palace Theater; the schedule is listed on the performance calendar available on their website.
In 2013, Wisconsin local Anthony Tomaska drove past the Palace Theater building and noticed a “For Sale” sign. After speaking to the real estate agent, Anthony learned that it had been vacant since 2008 and was available for purchase. With his brother Joseph, Anthony already had experience in the theater industry, as the pair had opened the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts in 2000 and also ran a highly successful production of Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding for over 15 years at Piper’s Alley. With additional knowledge in the food industry from a long family history in the restaurant business, the brothers decided to purchase the building. After a $2 million overhaul, the Palace Theater opened to the public in 2014, with Mary Poppins directed by Mac Robin as its first production.
The Palace Theater contains a seven-tiered auditorium with state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment. The seating is divided into regular and premium seating, with 700 seats in total. The tiered auditorium also includes tables for the dinner theatre performances, positioned to provide unobstructed views of the stage. The proscenium-style stage itself measures 48 feet.
Food is served before the dinner theatre performance begins, with dessert served during the intermission. Meals vary per performance, with each food menu designed around a theme. However, each menu provides a three-course meal accompanied by a side of bread. A children's menu is also available, and tea, coffee, and water are included within the ticket price. The Palace Theater offers vegetarian options and is able to cater to various dietary requirements if contacted in advance. Patrons can watch shows without taking part in the dinner experience by contacting the Palace Theater Box Office.
The large lobby, with doors leading to both the theater and the cloakroom, contains a full-service bar as well as a grand fireplace and a built-in sound system. A range of local Wisconsin beers are available on tap and by the bottle from the bar. Wine, spirits, and soft drinks are also on sale. The tall ceilings, red-curtained posters, and gold artistry create a Broadway-style theater aesthetic.
The Palace Theater offers a group sales program, specifically managed by their Group Sales Department. The program is applicable for groups of 15 or more, with the group price subject to a special discount. Group members will receive tickets to a show and a three-course dinner.
The Palace Theater also runs a gift card program, whereby patrons can buy a gift card for a child, senior, or adult. Such gift card experiences either include dinner and a theater performance or a stand-alone theater performance. The card can be redeemed by calling the Palace Theater Box Office.
Past shows performed at the Palace Theater include the interactive play Wedding Italiano and the late 1950s classic musical Grease.
