The Borden Building and Fred Fletcher Amphitheater are historic buildings on Clay Street in Raleigh with spaces that can be rented for weddings, parties, and other special events. Constructed in 1900 as the home for the superintendent of the Methodist Home for Children and later used as a home for children, the Borden Building was extensively renovated in 1992 and is now available to rent for special celebrations such as wedding ceremonies and receptions. One of two remaining buildings on the former campus of the Methodist Home, the Borden Building, and its companion, Fred Fletcher Park provides a rich history and serene, urban setting that can accommodate up to 300 people. The Borden Building has several stylishly appointed and decorated areas that can host up to 150 guests for formal dinners, and the Stone Circle, which is located next to the Borden Building can also be used for intimate outdoor ceremonies. The Fred Fletcher Amphitheater can accommodate up to 300 people for a lavish outdoor event with or without tented cover.
Amenities and Facilities
The Borden Building has a variety of spaces that can accommodate different sizes of parties. The downstairs section of the building can host up to 100 people for seated dinners and the upper level up to 50 people, which is perfect for ceremonies and services. The grounds on the east side of the Borden Building can be tented for seated or standing events of up to 100 guests, and the Stone Circle to the west of the house can be used with or without a tent for non-alcoholic functions.
The Fred Fletcher Amphitheater can accommodate 300 people and can be rented separately from the Borden Building in its entirety or a portion with access to electricity. No alcohol is allowed in the amphitheater.
The Borden Building has a beautifully appointed bridal suite and dressing room for the bridal party to use, and well as modern restrooms. The venue offers a list of preferred of vendors for services such as catering and beverages, décor, tables, chairs and linens, customized wedding cakes and cake-cutting ceremonies, entertainment and music, flowers and bouquets, and more.
