1.Acropolis of Lindos
The Acropolis of Lindos is an ancient citadel resting high on a cliff above the village of Lindos with breathtaking views over the Aegean Sea. Accessed by a short, steep-stepped footpath that climbs up the 380-foot cliff, the fortress dates back to the 6th century BC and is enclosed by battlements constructed by the Knights of St John. Inside the bastille are the ancient remains of a magnificent 20-columned Hellenistic stoa and a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena Lindia. Other impressive features include the Byzantine chapel of Saint John, the Temple of Athena on the southwest side of the hill, and the unrivaled sea views from the battlement walls.

2.The Valley of the Butterflies - Butterfly Valley (Petaloudes)

Located nine miles from Rhodes Town, the Valley of the Butterflies, also known as Butterfly Valley, is a 600-acre nature park with leafy trees, blooming flowers, walking trails, small streamlets, and grassy picnic areas. The park is renowned for being home to millions of colorful butterflies who flock to the park to lay eggs and reproduce in the spring and summer, creating a natural spectacle to behold. The park is also home to many Zitia trees, a species only found in a few areas of the Mediterranean that attract butterflies to its leafy branches.

3.Seven Springs (Epta Piges)

Seven Springs (Epta Piges) is a cool natural oasis 18 miles from the island’s capital that offers a tranquil, refreshing escape from the heat of the day and the bustling crowds in the towns and on the beaches. The magical area is full of lush, Mediterranean vegetation, shady trees, and a large lake formed by seven year-round springs flowing from the surrounding mountains. The leafy trees create a cool, shady retreat and the lake is a great spot for cooling swim. A 600-foot long narrow dark tunnel that was constructed in 1931 offers an exhilarating way to get to the lake for the brave-hearted, otherwise, there are easy walking paths to the water. There are also several hiking trails through the forests surrounding the lake.

4.Archaeological Museum of Rhodes
The Archaeological Museum of Rhodes is dedicated to the rich archaeological history of the island and surrounding islands of the Dodecanese. Housed in a monumental late-Gothic complex dating back to 1440 that was once the hospital of the Knights of Saint John, the museum features a vast collection of objects dating back to the Archaic, Roman, Mycenaean, and Hellenistic periods. In addition to ancient vases, sculptures, statues, and medieval tombs for knights in the museum, other signature pieces include a late-Hellenistic tomb monument with a lion devouring a bull is based in front of the western arcade and a magnificent Byzantine mosaic.

5.Museum of Modern Greek Art

Located on Symi Square at the entrance to the medieval Rhodes Town, the museum houses an impressive collection of drawings, documents, paintings, and sculptures from the 20th century. The museum has four sections, including the main gallery, the New Wing, the Municipal Art Gallery, and the Old Almshouse in Rhodes’ Old Town, and the main highlight of the museum is the collection of paintings by Valias Semertzidis, which is housed in the main gallery.

Rodini Park is an ancient nature reserve that is thought to be the first landscaped park in the world. Located a mile from Rhodes Town on the way to Lindos, the green oasis features dense vegetation of perennial plane trees, oleanders, high-sky pines, as well as flowering plants and bushes, gushing springs with fresh mountain water, playgrounds, hiking trails, and park benches. The park has several features including an ancient tomb carved out of a large rock with 21 Doric half-pillars dating back to the Hellenist period. There are also the remains of an old aqueduct and the park is home to a wealth of bird species.

Ladiko is a beautiful, quiet bay with a pristine white sandy beach, calm, turquoise waters, and a quaint seaside tavern just nine miles from Rhodes Town. Surrounded by spectacular natural landscapes, including a dramatic cliff face that drops over 100 feet into the clear waters below, the peaceful bay is scattered with interesting pieces of rock infused with broken amphora and ceramic pots, which are thought to have come from an ancient shipwreck in the bay. Visitors to the bay can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, and scuba diving along the submerged cliff face.

Hailed as one of the most beautiful beaches on Rhodes, Agathi is a stunning, white sandy beach with shallow waters that is free from the bustling beachside cafés and bars that line most of the other beaches on the island.
